Your Blog Counts (Summer 2021)

Are you wondering how to get known more widely for what you do?

You're an expert in your field, you've been in business for a while, and you would love more opportunities to share your knowledge and help more people. Your website looks great, but you're not getting many visitors and you're not sure what to do about it.

Perhaps you've written a few articles but you struggle to know what to write about, or what level to pitch it at. You're not sure how to tie what you write in with your services. And is all that time writing really worth it?

Yes! Well thought out articles which demonstrate your knowledge, expertise, and personality really will help build your reputation as an authority in your niche.

I help business owners to be seen as an expert, and show clients the value they will get from working with them.

Share your expertise on your blog

Do you want your business blog to bring traffic in to your website?

Would you like a plan for what to write about and the confidence to press publish?

Your Blog Counts is a 3 month programme where we focus on your blog, help you write great articles, and track your progress.

It’s for people who want to write articles which showcase their knowledge, experience, and expertise and help their potential clients get to know them.

Your mission over the next 12 weeks, should you choose to accept it, is to get your blog going, gain confidence in your writing, and make your website work for you, so you can build your reputation and promote your business.

You will write a minimum of 3 articles during the 12 weeks. You can write an article every week during the programme, and I will encourage you to do this.

✔️ You’ll develop a regular writing habit which works for you.

✔️ You will receive feedback on what you write each week.

✔️ And you will build a library of articles you can share on social media.

At the end of the 3 months you will have the confidence and knowledge to keep writing on your blog and use it to market your services.

"I do highly recommend Rachel Extance, as I am working with her in Your Blog Counts. When I start writing my knowledge filled introvert brain ends up doing a brain splurge on the paper, that results in a very scattered article when working on my own. Rachel then pulls this into focus, makes sure I am staying on topic and suggests how, what I thought was one article, can often be divided into several more focused articles. It's a very worthwhile experience with great accountability to get your focus where it should be to aid the organic reach of your website." Susanna Reay

What happens during Your Blog Counts?

We kick off with a 60 minute 1:1 session where we plan out your articles for the next 12 weeks. You can also join a live writing session every week so you always know when you are going to write. Send me your draft articles and I will give you feedback on them before you hit publish.

Write with your audience in mind. If you’re not sure who they are or what they want to know about, we can work on that. Sadly, you can’t write an article and assume people will come flooding to read it. You need to go out and show it to people. You will find out how to get your blog seen by more people. Discover low-cost (or even free) tools that make this easy and develop a system that works for you.

Your blog is part of your sales and marketing strategy. You will be writing articles which tie in with your offers. No slimey sales tactics. No artificial mentions of products or services. You will write articles which seamlessly link with what you sell. Your website will start to act as a silent sales person for you, overcoming client objections, answering questions, inspiring your customers and sharing your knowledge.

You'll keep track of what is happening on your website during the 12 weeks. You’ll also have a dashboard which enables you to see at a glance what you have written and how you have used it. This will make it easy for you to keep sharing your articles at the end of the 12 weeks and see your results. We will have a check in call each month for you to ask questions and we can reflect on what's happening and refine our plan.

Hello, I'm Rachel

Rachel Extance speaking at CSMDay19Writing for yourself can easily slip down your task list. I get it, there are so many other things to do in your business.

But what if you could make it into a habit?

What if you found it was something simple you could do every week, use for your social media and email marketing, and show your customers what you have to offer?

I worked as a journalist for 15 years and started blogging when I launched my own business in 2017. I’ve experimented with writing on different platforms; publishing weekly, daily, haphazardly; and writing in different ways. I’ve always focused on being helpful to people.

Over the years, I’ve become known for my blog. People talk about how helpful my articles are. I even won Blogger Of The Year at the Digital Women Awards 2020.

I use my blog to tell people about my services. It brings organic traffic to my website day in, day out from search engines and social media.

If you would like your blog to bring people to your website, we’ll get a plan in place. I’ll help you figure out what to write about, give your articles a polish, and show you how to share them with your audience.

"Rachel is an excellent storyteller, but as well as being able to tell her own stories is brilliant at coaching you to make your writing a little bit better. I initially wanted to work with her to proof content, but I hadn’t realised how much more she’d bring - suggesting improvement to flow, areas where I could round out content and powerful headlines." Clare Williams, Loxley Business Support Ltd

Let's get your blog going

When you join Your Blog Counts you will have a 60 minute 1:1 call with me where we talk through who your clients are, what your services are, and your background. We will map out a plan for your blog, including your content pillars and what you will write about over the next 12 weeks.

You will get access to a dashboard where you can record all your key metrics about visitors to your website and where they are coming from. Over the coming weeks you will use this dashboard to keep track of what you have published and track your progress.

You can send one article to me for feedback each week. If I haven't seen anything from you, I will send you a gentle reminder. If you're really stuck then let me know and we can work through it together.

At the end of each month, you will have a 30 minute 1:1 call with me to talk about how you got on, what worked, what you would like to improve on, and if we need to tweak the plan for the remaining weeks.

Places on Your Blog Counts are limited. I only open 12 at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I blog for my business?

Blogging has lots of benefits for your business, including driving traffic and answering your customers’ questions without them having to ask you (or them going away because they are too embarrassed or simply don’t want to pick up the phone). Find out more about 9 benefits of blogging for business.

I don't like writing, can you help with that?

I don’t have a magic wand but I do offer lots of encouragement, strategies to make it simple, and friendly feedback.

Writing regularly is a habit and the more you do it, the easier it gets. By the end of the 3 months you will have a bank of articles you can use to promote your business and I hope you will want to create more.

If you really don’t like writing, this might not be the programme for you. Take a look at Get Your Story Straight if you would like feedback on articles without a commitment to write every week.

Why are you encouraging me to write an article every week?

Blogging every week brings more traffic to your website than blogging once a month. You will develop a bank of articles which you can use on social media and in company publications, such as your newsletter. Even if you decide not to publish an article every week, take advantage of getting my feedback on your work during the programme.

This is your programme. If you would prefer not to write every week that's entirely up to you but you have 12 weeks of feedback included.

How much access to Rachel do I get?

You will have an 90 minute call at the start of the programme when we will discuss who your customers are, what your business does, and make a plan for your blog.

We will then have a 30 minute conversation each month to look at how you are progressing and plan the next month’s articles.

I will give you feedback on 4 articles a month.

What happens if I don't write? Can I get a refund?

You are responsible for making time to write. This is a commitment to yourself and your business.

I will gently remind you, provide encouragement and ideas. But I can’t make you write.

If you decide not to continue your investment is not refundable because I have invested time getting to know you and your business and making a plan.

I hated English at school, what will the feedback be like?

There’s no red pen here. Don’t worry. I know how much effort it takes to write an article and press publish on it.

Writing takes practice. I’ll make suggestions that you can apply to your work over the course of the 3 months so you can see how your writing has developed.

Does the programme start immediately?

When you join, you will get access to Module 1 and be invited to book your 90 minute 1:1 strategy call. The programme begins when you have the strategy call so if our diaries don't match up in the first week that you buy the programme, don't worry, you're not missing out on time.
